Scott Able Fire
Cloudcroft, New Mexico
Most homes burned were burned down to their foundations.
The
Scott Able Fire "crowned" on the ridges (burning trees completely).
When it moved into
valleys, it was forced forward by hurricane force winds that kept it from
burning out the
tops of the trees.
About
50% of the property damage was in the area of a Church of Christ
retreat camp where many private homes were lost.
