A precautionary evacuation is in progress as of 10:30 a.m. in the Camelot Subdivision of Ruidoso. There will be two hours to evacuate the entire Camelot and High Sierra areas. The evacuation will be in effect for at least 24 hours or until further notice. Evacuees will be able to go to Gateway Church of Christ on Sudderth Drive. Red Cross is assisting the evacuees at these centers. The Red Cross is requesting that evacuees bring their medications, toiletries, important documents, clothing, pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, entertainment supplies (i.e., board games, cards). Animals are not allowed at the Red Cross Centers, so evacuees are to make arrangements for their pets.

On the Mescalero Reservation, houses north of Highway 70 in the Cherokee Bill Canyon are also being evacuated. Evacuees are to report to the Carrizo Community Center and will be escorted to Mescalero.

We will provide continual updates for the Trap & Skeet Fire throughout the day and please emphasize that this is a precautionary evacuation. Highway 70 is still open.
