LOOKING AT THE WEATHER
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Cloudcroft weather can be a fickle lady (or "person" for the
politically correct). While our days have been largely mild with
temperatures in the upper 50s/low 60s, we had another shot of
snow on Tuesday. Good news, moisture-wise. The humming birds
are coming back. I'm sure it's unpleasant for the little guys
when it snows on them but they are a determined bunch. Again,
see the front page of Cloudcroft.com for up-to-date weather
summaries for Cloudcroft and the area.

VILLAGE POLITICS
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Mayor Dave Venable has made some recent appointments. Barbara
Springer is the new Mayor Pro Tem. Allen Henry and Lee Wilson
have been added to the Lodger's Tax Committee. The next village
council meeting is the second Tuesday in May.

INSIDE THE SHOP -- SPORTSLINE CARD UNIVERSE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Micheal Wright started his career as a businessman in his early
teens, speculating on the stock market. He did very well, and
opened a toy store on Burro Street. That toy store has evolved
into a sports collector's shop, "Sportsline Card Universe",
featuring trading cards, plaques, and other collectables. His
inventory includes low cost cards to rare and valuable
collector's items. Micheal is in his early 20s now and is
already a seasoned veteran of the Cloudcroft business community.

CLOUDCROFT ONLINE SPOTLIGHT -- THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Since the Village of Cloudcroft is virtually surrounded by
national forest lands, the United States Forest Service plays a
daily role in the lives of Cloudcroft and area residents. The
Cloudcroft office of the Forest Service is located just across
Highway 82 from The Cloudcroft Inn.

Because of their prominent role in managing federal lands around
Cloudcroft, the people of the forest service probably come into
more contact with our visitors than any other organization. They
direct people to available camping areas, inform them of existing
restrictions, help hunters with seasonal information and
locations, issue assorted permits and a myriad of other duties.
All the time they do it with a welcoming smile. Some of us could
learn a lot from the people at the Forest Service.
